Double Double, Coyotes in Trouble

Great action last night. Things certainly werent dull with a little of everything - double OT games, an elimination and a shutout. My TV remote is breatheing a sigh of relief this AM.

You know it's playoff hockey when 80 minutes isn't enough to decide a winner. Pittsburgh and Washington both won their respective games last night in the 2nd overtimes period. Neither goal will be mistaken for a masterpiece but with teams often looking to make a perfect play, it goes to show that good things happen if you just put the puck on net.

Second time in as many nights that a team has given up a sizable lead. Last night saw New York coughing up a 3-0 lead. Tough break as King Henrik was playing awesome from what I saw during OT. His stop of an Ovechkin breakaway in the 1st OT was a beauty. To lose the way they did with Lundqvist playing so well was a kick in the teeth.

I think we'd all agree that Detroit is a team thats been there & done that. A veteran team that knows the importance of ending a series early - they have a chance to rest now while waiting for round 2. When they return to action they'll have Zetterberg back in the line up. He's the 1B to Datsyuk's 1A & is a known playoff performer. Not good news for whomever the Wings play next.

Phoenix's season is over & the Grim Reaper is poised to strike on but really, who knows whats going on there - this saga has dragged on for waaay to long. I can't say whether or not hockey in the desert is dead but I honestly don't care. I promise not to bother you guys with that & I'll leave the will they / won't they scenarios to the vthe conspiracy theorists.

Now that the NHL has a shiny new 10 year with NBC, do you think we can convince the powers that be that NBC can keep Pierre Maguire & Mike Milbury?

Three games on tap tonight. Can't wait to watch the Hawks-Canucks as Chicago tries to escape elimination again. Going to be very interesteing for whomever scores the first goal tonight - it's gonna be a beauty! Caught this yesterday from the twitterverse, Vince Vaughn mocking Roberto Luongo. "You're my boy, Lou!". Love it. Tonight other games sees the Bruins & Kings trying to knot those up at 2.

Enjoy the action everyone.
